2021 MD RoughRiders finished 4–2 in the InsideLacrosse Invitational

Elkridge, MD — The Maryland Roughriders put on a showing at Inside Lacrosse Invitational this past weekend in Elkridge, Maryland. The 2021 team is a very gritty team that always puts forth maximum effort. Along with their grit and effort, the 2021 team has been together for years and have built a chemistry that is an overlooked intangible in winning games. After an impressive summer, this Roughrider senior class looks to continue where they had left off in the summer with dominating their opponents.

After a rough Saturday going 1–2, the 2021’s managed to bounce back and had themselves a day on Sunday. The senior class went 3–0 against first-class competition and were named the InsideLacrosse stand out team for Sunday. Midfielder and UMBC commit Cam Stockenburg was named the Lids Legend of the day for the 2021 class. Stockenburg was noticed for his lights out shooting ability and scoring a goal that impressed head coach Lee Corrigan. Coach Corrigan said, “I have seen many goals in my time but Cam’s goal this weekend left me speechless.” InsideLacrosse went on to say, Stockenburg lead in what they call the “notebook plays.” These are the plays that make all the college recruiters pick up their pens and take notes. Other notable standouts were face-off midfielder Trey Fleece and the whole attack unit of Jack Burns, Jake Levey and Charlie Reynolds. Fleece commanding the face-off x giving the 2021’s all the opportunities they can have. Fleece will join Stockenburg at UMBC to give the Retrievers two game changing talents. Along with Stockenberg finding the twine, his teammates Burns, Levey, and Reynolds were letting them fly dominating their matchups down low. The midfield while led by Stockenburg had dominating performances from Cabrini commit Brendan Demek, Andrew McCook, and Sam Ryu. The 2021's high powered offense left no game to chance rolling over their opponents with final scores of 12–3, 9– 4, and 14 –2. While the offense gets credit for pouring in the goals, Coach Corrigan gives tremendous credit to his “rambling gambling defense” for holding oppenents to 9 total goals over the three game span on Sunday. A defense lead by the dominating play of Nick Arnold, Phil Schutty, Alex Soliman, and Pat Murray. The defense is anchored by the goaltending of Thomas Coakley and Dominic Profaci.

The 2021 team finished the weekend 4–2 improving their 2020 record to 25–5. With one last tournament coming this weekend in Annapolis at the Lacrosse Invitational, the Roughrider senior class is looking finish strong on their “Vengeance Tour.”
